One of the scarcest recourses on earth is time. There are only 24 hours in a day and it’s not likely that that will ever change. Because time is so scarce quite often we find ourselves running out of it and never get to do all that needs to be done. The general feeling theses days is that there are not enough hours in the day. Because we are so busy there is sometimes a tendency to neglect our time with the Lord. Our personal relationship with the Jesus Christ must not be neglected. I am reminded how in Mark 6:30 the disciples made time to share with the Lord about what they had been up to As well as Ephesians 5:15 which is an encouragement for us to be wise with our time....

This is why I believe that it is important to manage our time wisely so that we do not miss out or neglect the important things of life.

I am not a professional my self, when it comes to managing time, but over the years I have learnt a few tips on how to manage my time. Perhaps over the next few weeks or months (depending on time of course) we can go over a few time management skills.  Because most of our days are taken up by work or school and sleep we usually find that we really don’t have that much free/personal time left. Usually time management problems arise because we don’t prioritize properly  Habits of laziness, feeling overwhelmed, lack of organization and planning, being easily distracted, tiredness etc can all prevent the best possible use of your time.. So if you are determined to manage you time better its going to cost you and its going to mean making a few changes to your routine.

Today we will look at three main ingredients for proper time management.

  1. Watch
  2. Diary
  3. Discipline
A watch or some type of time measuring device is obviously important

Dairy: Many of us don’t realise how important it is to keep a dairy or calendar.

A dairy will enable you to keep a track of what you need to do and at what time. Writing a list of what you need to do each day may seem tedious but it will help you know how much you can realistically handle in a day and  it keeps you from over committing your self. We will look at this in detail in the weeks to come.

Discipline: As with all things discipline is an important factor to successful and effective time management. It doesn’t mean you become paranoid and always conscious of time but rather it means striving to accomplish in the day what you set out.

In the next few weeks we will expound on these three ingredients as well as give you a few more tips on managing time. If you want to participate in this topic

please feel free to add in your thoughts and suggestions. So until next time, God bless
