How ‘Youth Alive' began

About two years back, Olivier, a young man who’d had a very real encounter with the Lord after being lost in the world, desired to see young people rise up and serve Jesus. After seeking the Lord for guidance, he formed some ideas and suggestions. The emphasis was to be on evangelism and the instruction and growth of young people to become servants of God not just for a little team but for the all the youth of the church. Olivier, together with a few of the youth in his local area, started to meet together. They prayed, they spent time in the Word, and had fellowship. Although they were still a small team they started to see that there was a bigger vision, and that more youth would join them to serve the Lord. The group started to experience a change in their relationships as they worked together and participated in a number of evangelism campaigns together. They became more united, there was a new boldness to share and the Lord removed their shyness; there was a fire that had ignited in their hearts to serve Jesus! They realised how evangelism teaches young people to bring souls to the Lord, to be sensitive to the needs of others, to sing and perform skits, and to share their testimonies to the public, and sometimes to even preach!
